A surprisingly good discount on the Nintendo Switch, and many of its games, is currently running at Tesco, but only in certain stores.
Even with speculation of a Nintendo Switch 2, it still seems like Nintendo has no plans to abandon its current hardware any time soon, if talk of it increasing production is to be believed.
Since it still sells well the Switch very rarely gets price cuts, even during Black Friday, and especially not anything significant for the newer OLED model.
And yet, for no obvious reason, Tesco has just started a sale that’s 50% off for both models – with the only catch being that you have to go into a physical store to buy them.
Normally, Tesco sells the standard model at £230 (which is already £30 cheaper than the standard price on Nintendo’s website) while the OLED model costs £305 (just £5 cheaper than on Nintendo’s website).
With the new 50% discount, you can buy either the standard Switch for £115 or the OLED model for £152.50.
The bad news is that this offer is only available in select stores as part of a clearance sale, so there’s no option to grab one online.
If you’re interested, we recommend checking the Tesco app or phoning your nearest store to see if there’s any in stock in your area, just so you don’t waste timing rushing to a store that’s either sold out or never had them to begin with.
Tesco’s website does list Super Mario 3D World and Animal Cross: New Horizons as part of the sale too, with price cuts of £20 and £18.50 respectively, and at time of writing they’re both available for delivery.
Luigi’s Mansion 3, Pokémon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl, and Pokémon Legends: Arceus are also reported to be £20 or less, but they’re in-store only as well.

Does this mean Nintendo’s going to announce its next console soon? Perhaps in that rumoured Nintendo Direct that’s meant to be happening this week? Probably not, no.
As far as we can tell, the discount only applies to Tesco, so it’s not as if Nintendo is dropping the price of the Switch everywhere.
The company has also insisted that it has no plans to release new hardware this year, meaning a Switch 2 won’t release until 2024 at the absolute earliest.
