Former Coronation Street star Charles Dale has opened up about his struggles on the day of his birthday, revealing that he’s ‘skint’ and going through a divorce.
The actor, best known for playing Dennis Stringer in the ITV soap between 2000 and 2002, turned 60-years-old this week and took to social media to reveal that, despite what he’s going through, he feels ‘not too shoddy’.
‘So, 60 today (WTF),’ he wrote on Twitter.
‘unemployed, skint, going through a divorce (fine but tricky), but thanks to the generosity of my family and friends, feeling not too shoddy.’
‘In fact, one might say, downright chipper ! Can’t think why, can you? #birthdaytshirt #haveyouturneditonandofagain?’
Charles, who also played Mackenzie ‘Big Mac’ Chalker in Casualty, shared a picture of himself on a rooftop garden in Wales, which overlooked the sea.
Friends and fans were quick to share their support for Charles, with Emmerdale star Mark Charnock, who plays Marlon Dingle, writing: ‘A very happy birthday, Mr D!!! Here’s some kind of cake, I guess,’ followed with a cake emoji.
‘Happy Birthday,’ wrote one social media user. ‘A new chapter in your future.
‘If you do it right, the end of the book can be the most exciting and satisfying!! Have a lovely, lovely day, lovely Charlie!’
