Erling Haaland’s agent says no club will pay this amount, but the Manchester City striker is still worth ‘at least €1billion (£884m).’
The Norwegian moved to City from Borussia Dortmund last summer after the Premier League side met the release clause of just £51.2m.
The deal will cost Manchester City much more than that, but it still appears to be very good value for the 22-year-old who has continued to be prolific in England, as he was in Germany and Austria.
Haaland has scored 25 goals in his first 19 Premier League matches and 31 in his first 27 appearances for City across all competitions.
Rafaela Pimenta, who represents the feared forward, says any team wanting to buy Haaland would not offer €1billion, but that is the value he brings to any side.
‘The top is at Neymar’s 222…the numbers change. For me, Haaland is worth €1billion,’ Pimenta told Spanish publication AS.
‘Maybe nobody is going to pay that, but it is the potential that he has when he arrives at a club. With him come fans, goals, sports results, professionalism, digital content, notoriety, sponsors… If you put all this together, his value is an aggregate of many things.
‘But the price of a footballer is actually set by a club. I know that nobody is going to pay €700million for a player, but I am very clear that the value that Erling adds when he arrives at a club is immense, at least €1billion.’
Haaland is only in his first season under Pep Guardiola at the Etihad so is not thinking about moving anywhere in the near future.
However, Pimenta said that if he ever does fancy a new challenge, she will be able to engineer it.
‘I have done all the contracts for this agency in the last 25 years. Everybody,’ she said. ‘There wasn’t a single time a player said “I want to go” and he couldn’t do it.’
