Brooke Shields revealed details about the time she was raped shortly after graduation from college in her new Pretty Baby documentary.
The 57-year-old actress left Princeton University in 1987 and told producers of the new film – which premiered at Sundance Film Festival – she was sexually assaulted shortly after.
During a period in which the star was struggling to re-enter Hollywood after some early success, Brooke revealed the incident occurred while she was meeting a man who claimed to want to discuss potential projects.
The Blue Lagoon actress concealed the man in question’s identity but explained how she returned to his hotel room to wait for her taxi to arrive after their dinner.
Detailing the rape for the first time, she shared: ‘He said, “Come back to the hotel and I’ll call a cab” and I go up to the hotel room, and he disappears for a while.’
Admitting she started to feel uncomfortable in the stranger’s room, she found a pair of binoculars among the man’s belongings and began to watch some volleyball players out of the window.

She continued: ‘The door opens, the person comes out naked, and I’ve got the binoculars and I’m like, “S**t.”’
‘And I put the binoculars down and he’s right on me. Just like, was wrestling.
‘I was afraid I’d get choked out or something. So I didn’t fight that much. I didn’t. I just absolutely froze.

‘I thought one “No” should’ve been enough, and I just thought, “Stay alive and get out” and I just shut it out. God knows I knew how to be disassociated from my body.
‘I’d practiced that…. I went down in the elevator, and I got my own cab. I just cried all the way to my friend’s apartment.’
For a long time after the hotel room incident occurred, Brooke refused to see it as rape despite being told it was by her security specialist Gavin de Becker.
‘He said, “That’s rape.” And I said, “I’m not willing to believe that,”’ the star revealed.
Brooke had endured being sexually objectified early on in her Hollywood career as she appeared nude in a project and kissed Keith Carradine, 29, in the 1978 film Pretty Baby when she was just 11 years old.
