Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga has tipped new signing Mykhailo Mudryk to be a ‘big player’ for the club ahead of their clash at Liverpool.
The Blues travel to Anfield on Saturday in what is a pivotal clash for both sides whose poor form has left them in mid-table and 10 points off the Champions League spots.
Mudryk was officially unveiled as a Chelsea player last Sunday after completing his £88.5million move from Shakhtar Donetsk and is expected to make his debut against the Reds.
Much is expected of the 22-year-old who looked destined to join Arsenal before Graham Potter and Todd Boehly hijacked the transfer, and as a result is now Chelsea’s second-most expensive signing of all-time, behind Romelu Lukaku.
Kepa knows all about high expectations having previously held the mantle of the Blues’ most expensive player when he moved to Stamford Bridge in 2019 for £72m.
The Spain international has endured many ups and downs at the club but backs Mudryk to have an incredible impact in the Premier League, telling The 5th Stand: ‘I think he’s a very big player,.
‘For sure, I think he’s going to help us a lot and we cannot wait to have him in the squad.

‘He is coming here to give us different things and to help us win games. I think he’s a big player, so of course we are happy to have him.
‘He is a big player who comes here to help and all the best to him. We hope all the new players can all help our season, because everyone wants that.’
Prior to his transfer, winger Mudryk had recorded 10 goals and eight assists in 18 appearances this season and Potter will be praying that he can reproduce those type of numbers for his new side.
Chelsea have found scoring tough of late, have netted just 22 goals this campaign, ranking them joint 12th in the league, with Kai Havertz their top goalscorer on just five.
Thanks to the signings of Mudryk and Joao Felix, the Blues’ squad is now overloaded with forwards, and it’s set to get even more bloated this January with PSV’s Noni Madueke also set for a move to west London.
