Happy Valley fans have been making a pilgrimage to the Bolton caff that was used for filming the critically-acclaimed scene between Catherine (Sarah Lancashire) and Clare (Siobahn Finneran).
Catherine was destroyed when she learnt her grandson Ryan (Rhys Connah) had been secretly visiting his father Tommy Lee Royce (James Norton) behind bars for the past year.
In a double blow, the sergeant discovered her sister Clare and boyfriend Neil (Con O’Neill) had been accompanying the teenager to Sheffield prison behind her back.
After a fellow officer let slip their visits, Catherine took it upon herself to see it with her own eyes, booking a day off and trailing them all the way to the Northern city.
While Neil and Ryan entered the prison, Clare instead grabbed a cuppa n a nearby cafe, with Catherine observing her from just outside the caff.
Ringing her up, Catherine gently coaxed her sibling to tell the truth about her whereabouts, but instead, she continued to lie, with the copper deciding to stroll right in and give her the shock of her life.

The ensuing scenes between pair, and Catherine’s despair after seeing visions of her dead daughter Becky, left viewers hailing the former Corrie star as ‘one of the best [actresses] of all time.’
And the actors’ performances have left such a mark, fans have been flocking to the real cafe, which is based in Bolton, where it was filmed.
The manager of the caff appeared on Friday’s Lorraine, during which they discussed how business had ‘soared’ since Sally Wainwright’s drama aired with Jake Quickenden.

They explained that they’d had visitors from all over the country, including one lady from London, who stayed in the area for three days.
The caff boss added that she would wait until the table where the scene was shot was free.
And the Londoner isn’t the only Happy Valley fan to head to Bolton, with the owner saying they’ve had many people just ‘wanting a picture’.

In honour of the show, they revealed the team had added a Happy Valley sandwich to the menu, which has a delicious array of ingredients in it, including prosciutto, presto and chicken.
Earlier this week, Sarah herself was seen unwittingly creating that scene when she headed to a local cafe with her husband, Peter Salmon, a TV executive.

But, judging by the pictures, it was certainly a much happier occasion than the confrontation between Catherine and Clare in the crime drama.
Lorraine airs weekdays from 9am on ITV.
