Shia LaBeouf got into character in a white gown and gold accessories for Megalopolis (Picture: Patriot Pics/Backgrid)
Shia LaBeouf looked nothing like his typical self after getting into character for his role in Megalopolis.
The American actor, 36, shot to fame as Louis in Disney Channel’s Even Stevens and later became known for dramatic roles in projects such as The Tax Collector, Piece of a Woman, and Fury.
Now, the Emmy winner is starring alongside Adam Driver, Aubrey Plaza, Forest Whittaker, Nathalie Emmanuel, and more in five-time Oscar winner Francis Ford Coppola’s latest project.
Boasting a $100million (£81m) budget and currently shooting in Atlanta, Georgia, the sci-fi drama follows a New York woman who is ‘divided between loyalties to her father, who has a classical view of society, and her lover, who is more progressive and ready for the future.’
The flick has been a passion project of the director’s for a while, as Francis began developing the film in the early 1980s.
His dream is finally becoming a reality, though, and it’s clear none of the budget was spared on costumes.

Once a Disney child star, Shia looked worlds away from his usual self while in character (Picture: Patriot Pics/Backgrid)
Strutting around the set in his gladiator heels, Shia donned a white Grecian gown, a stark contrast to the black leather looks his character has previously been photographed wearing.
Shia also wore a golden corset and matching headdress, completing the look with a small purse, all hand-selected by costume designer Milena Canonero.
The child star also wore black polish on his nails and a vampy purple lipstick.
Almost unrecognisable, his natural eyebrows had been painted over with concealer, with much thinner ones drawn over the top by make-up artist Kris Evans.

The cast were filming a scene where Shia arrives at the theatre in a stretch limo with Chloe Fineman and 20+ women, with one of the women dancing and drinking champagne on top of the limo.

Speaking about the movie once before, filmmaker Francis described the plot as a ‘love story.’

‘A woman is divided between loyalties to two men. But not only two men. Each man comes with a philosophical principle,’ he explained to GQ last February.
‘One is her father who raised her, who taught her Latin on his lap and is devoted to a much more classical view of society, the Marcus Aurelius kind of view.
‘The other one, who is the lover, is the enemy of the father but is dedicated to a much more progressive, “Let’s leap into the future, let’s leap over all of this garbage that has contaminated humanity for 10K years. Let’s find what we really are, which are an enlightened, friendly, joyous species”.’
A trial is set for later this year, after FKA Twigs made allegations following their one-year relationship (Picture: PA)
As for his involvement, it’s clear how much the film means to Francis, given that he piece of his wine empire in order to self-finance the filming.
Megalopolis marks Shia’s acting comeback following allegations against him of sexual battery.

The star has kept a low profile since ex-girlfriend, musician FKA Twigs, accused him, with a civil trial scheduled for April 17.
While Shia previously admitted there were ‘failings’ in their relationship, the actor has denied abusing his ex – real name Tahliah Debrett Barnett – physically, mentally, or emotionally in the year they were together.
