Kai Havertz singled out teammate Hakim Ziyech for praise after Chelsea got a much needed win against Crystal Palace on Sunday.
Chelsea edged their London rivals 1-0 at Stamford Bridge thanks to Havertz who headed in Ziyech’s cross midway through the second-half.
Having lost seven of their previous nine matches, the win should ease the pressure on manager Graham Potter somewhat, though the Blues remain 10th in the table.
It’s been a difficult few months for Chelsea whose squad has been decimated by injuries, though there was some great news on Sunday, with the big money signing of Mykhailo Mudryk confirmed during the match.
‘The last few weeks were incredibly tough. For everyone at the club, it is not easy under these circumstances,’ Havertz said after the game.
‘A lot of things changed this year. We have so many injuries, 10-12 injured players. Today we had five young players in the starting XI, they are doing a really good job at the moment.
‘I think I was in a good spot. Hakim gave me a lot of good balls.

‘I play in the number nine position and I take the responsibility to score more goals, we as a team need to score more goals. I will do my best to help the team.’
Chelsea’s line up included young stars like Trevoh Chalobah, Lewis Hall, Conor Gallagher, Carney Chukwuemeka and debutant Benoit Badiashile.
With Joao Felix suspended and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang struggling for goals, Havertz was once again called upon to lead the line for Chelsea and against Palace scored only his sixth goal of the season.
‘He worked the line really well. He has pushed and pushed, I am pleased for him to get the winning goal,’ Potter said of the 23-year-old German forward.
‘Today we are happy for the three points. Overall we played quite well, they had their moments as well but today was about getting the victory – park it as three valuable points against a team that was pushing as well.
‘We try to play well and I thought at times we did, you have to understand the context of the situation we are in so it isn’t going to be sensational football all the time. The boys have worked hard.’
