Harry accuses Prince William of physical attack – report
Prince Harry has claimed his brother Prince William attacked him, according to the Guardian, which says it has a copy of his upcoming book Spare.
The paper says the book reports on an argument the brothers had over Harry’s wife Meghan Markle.
“He grabbed me by the collar, ripping my necklace, and he knocked me to the floor,” the Guardian quotes Harry.
Kensington Palace said it “has no comment to make”.
The paper says the book lays out the incident, which reportedly happened at Harry’s London home in 2019.
Harry writes that Prince William was critical of his marriage to Meghan Markle and the prince described his sister-in-law as “difficult”, “rude” and “abrasive.” Harry reportedly writes in the book that Prince William was “parrot[ing] the press narrative” as the confrontation escalated.
Prince Harry is said to describe what happened next, including an alleged physical altercation.
“He set down [a glass of] water, called me another name, then came at me. It all happened so fast. So very fast.
“He grabbed me by the collar, ripping my necklace, and he knocked me to the floor.
“I landed on the dog’s bowl, which cracked under my back, the pieces cutting into me. I lay there for a moment, dazed, then got to my feet and told him to get out.”
Harry’s book Spare
Martin Pengelly – a journalist for the Guardian’s US website, wrote the story and said he didn’t approach Prince William’s communication team. He says his article is “a report on Harry’s book, which he’s written, it’s Harry’s account”.
Pengelly was careful not to call it a fight because Harry claims he didn’t fight back.
Harry allegedly writes that his brother urged him to fight back but he didn’t. He says later Prince William looked regretful and he apologised.
Harry’s UK interview
Prince Harry has sat down with journalist – and friend – Tom Bradby for his UK interview. In a new clip posted, the prince reiterates his claims the royals leaked stories to the press and claims he still believes in the monarchy.
When asked if he will attend the King’s coronation, he dodges the question and says a lot can happen between now and then and adds “the door is always open” and the “ball is in their court.” Harry says he hopes him and his family can sit down and discuss what’s happened.
When asked if he will play a role in the future of the monarchy he responds “I don’t know.”
