Celebrity tributes are pouring in for football icon Pele, who has died at the age of 82.
The Brazilian sports legend, full name Edson Arantes do Nascimento, died in Sao Paulo on Thursday following a lengthy battle with cancer.
Prominent football figures, such as Cristiano Ronaldo, Neymar and Kylian Mbappe, are among those who have passed on their condolences soon after the news was confirmed by Pele’s daughter and management.
Supermodel Naomi Campbell led celebrity tributes, writing a heartfelt message which read: ‘Pele 👑, you were a symbol for us , and you let us see dreams can become a reality . You were and will always be ONE OF A KIND , .. with a heart of gold 1st ever athlete as Unesco good will ambassador , a carer of the people .

Former US President Barack Obama shared a photo of him and Pele holding a Brazilian football shirt together, and wrote: ‘Pelé was one of the greatest to ever play the beautiful game. And as one of the most recognizable athletes in the world, he understood the power of sports to bring people together.
‘Our thoughts are with his family and everyone who loved and admired him.’
Former BBC Breakfast presenter Dan Walker tweeted: ‘Some sporting stars inspire their team mates.
‘Some inspire a nation and, occasionally, a generation. Every now and again… a special talent comes along who inspires every fan on earth.’

He added: ‘I once had the pleasure of interviewing Johan Cryuff, Bobby Charlton and Eusébio together at the same event in Barcelona.
The best player on the planet was a topic of discussion and, between them, they decided that no-one compared to Pele.’
Comedian David Baddiel said: ‘The world shifts a little on its axis when the greatest go. RIP Pele.’
Nigerian Afrobeats singer Burna Boy commented: ‘RIP Pele. A man with a strong legacy that will be remembered FOREVER.
‘Legends Never Die they are always Remembered in the hearts of the People.’
YouTuber-turned-boxer KSI tweeted a photo of him shaking Pele’s hand, and said simply: ‘RIP pele.’
Snowfall actor Damson Idris wrote in his Instagram stories: ‘Rest well goat. Thank you,’ while former footballer Ashley Cain said: ‘RIP the legend @pele.’
