Good Morning Britain has officially welcomed new presenter Gordon Smart to the team as of Thursday morning.
The newcomer joins Charlotte Hawkins for the latest edition of the ITV daytime programme and will be back again tomorrow (December 30) while regular hosts Kate Garraway, Ben Shephard, and Susanna Reid enjoy some time off during the festive season.
Gordon is delighted to be joining the GMB team and enthused: ‘I’m thrilled to be joining the amazing stable of talent, in front and behind the camera, on Good Morning Britain.
‘So many of the issues facing the country right now are close to home and I’m relishing the chance to join the debate.’
He joins a bunch of fresh faces joining the fold, including I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! campmate Scarlette Douglas, who is filling in for entertainment reporter Richard Arnold.
Who is Gordon Smart?
Gordon Smart is an award-winning broadcaster, journalist, and editor.
He has become a familiar figure in the world of broadcasting, regularly hosting afternoon shows on talkSPORT and BBC Radio Scotland, his own evening show on Radio X, and Weekend Breakfast on BBC Radio 5 Live.
Gordon, 42, made his name by becoming the youngest editor of The Sun’s Bizarre Showbiz column at the age of 26.
After winning showbiz reporter of the year in 2012, Gordon was soon appointed editor of The Scottish Sun, the highest-selling newspaper in Scotland.
In 2016, Gordon became Deputy Editor of the National Edition.
Gordon is married to his wife Kate, and the couple shares two children, a son, Jimmy, and a daughter, Laurie.

Tragically, he was one of the witnesses to the 2013 helicopter crash at the Clutha bar in Glasgow, which killed 10 people.
At the time he tweeted: ‘This is genuinely horrible. Spare a thought for those involved. Terrifying experience. Thought it was going to land on me.’
Good Morning Britain airs weekdays from 6am on ITV1.
