Mick Carter (Danny Dyer) has vanished at sea in EastEnders after submerging himself in the icy waters to rescue love of his life Linda (Kellie Bright), unaware that she had already made it safety moments earlier.
The pub landlord had one of the worst Christmas Days imaginable, as the truth about new wife Janine Butcher (Charlie Brooks) was exposed over the dinner table.
Janine did her best to talk him around, but the very fact that she endangered the life of his soulmate was enough to make Mick realise that there was no going back, as he hold his bride exactly what he thought of her.
After a heartfelt reunion with Linda, tragedy struck, as the love birds and Janine ended up in a cliffside showdown, which saw a car plummet into the depths below – with Janine and Linda inside!
Mick wasted little time in going in after the vehicle, getting Janine and his unborn child to safety, before returning to the ocean for his beloved L.

Linda, however, had made to safety, and she was horrified to realise Mick was back in the water looking for her, as she called out for him at the top of her lungs – to no avail.
But will we EVER find out what happened to Mick? Or will this be one of those classic cases of the unsolved soap mystery.
‘You’ll have to wait and see,’ said EastEnders boss Chris Clenshaw. ‘It’s EastEnders so anything could happen.’
Linda, meanwhile, will struggle to get her head around the events of Christmas Day, as she comes to terms with the prospect that Mick is gone.

‘She’s not going to get over Mick very quickly,’ added Chris. ‘She was just reunited with him then he was snatched away from her so it won’t be all smiles straight away, but there are big plans for Linda.’
Kellie, meanwhile, was delighted that Mick and Linda got back together, prior to the tragic end.
‘It’s so right seeing them together!’ she said, and we couldn’t agree more.
EastEnders continues Boxing Day at 7:30pm on BBC One.
