James Acaster made his feelings about watching the monarch’s Christmas speech heard loud and clear with a cheeky swipe.
The comedian appeared on Adam Hills’ The Last Leg, with Josh Widdicombe, Alex Brooker and AJ Odudu.
Dressed up in some very impressive Christmas outfits, the panel were discussing upcoming festivities, including the King Charles III’s speech.
Adam began by asking James: ‘One thing that will be different is the royal speech. This time it’ll be given by King Charles, which is kind of sad, it’s lovely we’re moving forward. How do you think he’s going to go?’
To which the 37-year-old replied: ‘I usually pretend to care about the questions you ask.’
As the audience chuckled, he continued, talking about the King’s speech: ‘I hope he just says, you know what, we had a good run but let’s call it a day and focus on global warming.’
A hilarious parody sketch of ‘King Charles preparing for his speech’ followed in which ‘the King’ called himself ‘a tiger’, pondered lying down across the desk, and recreated pen-gate.
James’ comments come after the first image of King Charles’ Christmas Day address to the nation was released.

In the picture, taken during the recording of the annual festive address, the monarch is pictured standing in a navy blue suit while delivering his address.
In decades past, the Queen previously stood for her Christmas broadcast, although in recent years she had been sat behind a desk.
The King’s Christmas message was recorded in the quire of St George’s Chapel, where the Royal Family sat during the Queen’s committal service, and where the former monarch was eventually laid to rest alongside her husband, Prince Philip.

Charles last addressed the nation in his first broadcast as King, screened the day after the Queen’s death on September 8.
In that address he spoke movingly about his ‘beloved mother’, and said: ‘We owe her the most heartfelt debt any family can owe to their mother; for her love, affection, guidance, understanding and example.’
The Last Leg is available to watch on All 4.
