Janey Godley has been inundated with messages of support as she shared her devastation at undergoing treatment for cancer coming up to Christmas.
The Scottish comedian, 61, has battled ovarian cancer for the past year, with the disease returning after she initially got the all-clear in June.
Glasgow native Janey is generally determined to keep positive, and is still planning to go on her Not Dead Yet tour of the UK in February and March next year.
However this week Janey found herself in tears at her situation as she heard a Christmas song from her childhood on the chemo ward, and took to Twitter to share how she was feeling.
She wrote to her 280,000 followers: ‘Someone is playing “White Christmas” on the chemo ward and now I am sitting here crying.
‘Of all the places I thought I would be at this time of year, this isn’t one of them. Facing my life shortened by ovarian cancer and having all these nostalgic memories of Christmas past.’
She added: ‘Sending love to everyone facing devastating health conditions.’

Janey was instantly flooded by messages of love and support from followers, friends and fans, with one man writing: ‘So sorry Janey, sending you love & strength.’
Fellow stand-up Rory Bremner added: ‘Sending you love & strength. You’re amazing Janey.’
One woman going through similar to Janey sent ‘love and big hugs,’ explaining she was battling breast cancer and ‘the Christmas tunes are hitting me hard this year too.’
The acclaimed comedian seemed heartened from her many messages of support, retweeting several to share the love to her own followers.
She later snapped a photo of herself from the hospital, wearing a mask and posing beside a Christmas tree, writing: ‘Chemo done I am off home for Christmas.’

Janaye received her diagnosis of stage three ovarian cancer in November 2021 and has since undergone chemotherapy treatment and a full hysterectomy.
She shared the news of the cancer returning earlier this month, confirming she was still determined to go on tour early in the New Year.
However she added her next tour will likely be the last time she is able to perform live, with the cancer returning just months after a scan in June showing her to be cancer-free.

‘My recent scan and my blood tests showed that my cancer marker went up,’ she explained at the time.
‘There’s still a bit of evidence of disease in my abdomen. So I want you all to know that I’ll be going through some more chemotherapy.

‘I also want you to know that I’m going ahead with the tour in February and March. I am determined to get back on stage. I’ve been a kind of die on your feet, know your knees [sic] type of person’.
‘I’m looking forward to the tour, I think it’s fair and honest to say it might be the last time you see me live on stage. I’m hoping it’s not, but I think it’s a fair estimation.’
