Wesley Fofana has played down the severity of his latest injury as Chelsea prepare for the resumption of the Premier League.
Fofana joined Chelsea in a £75 million deal from Leicester City in the summer transfer window but the 22-year-old has been sidelined with a knee injury since October.
The French defender has been stepping up his recovery during the World Cup break and was able to take part in individual training sessions during Chelsea’s Abu Dhabi training camp earlier this month.
Fofana took part in a behind-closed-doors friendly on Tuesday as Chelsea ran out 5-1 winners over Brentford but the defender was forced off during the game with a knee injury.
However, in response to the news of his latest setback on an Instagram fan page, Fofana wrote: ‘Nothing bad champion in not even one month we’re back to break everything.’

Kai Havertz scored a hat-trick in the victory over Brentford, while Reece James, who missed England’s World Cup campaign with a knee injury, was able to complete 60 minutes.
Chelsea resume their Premier League campaign against Bournemouth at Stamford Bridge on December 27.
Chelsea will then play Nottingham Forest on New Year’s Day before hosting Manchester City on January 5.

The Blues will then play City again at the Etihad Stadium in the FA Cup third round on January 8.
Graham Potter’s side currently sit eighth in the Premier League, eight points behind fourth-placed Tottenham.
