Security worker dies after Brixton gig crush
Another person has died following the crush at a Brixton O2 Academy gig.
Gaby Hutchinson, 23, who worked as a security contractor that night, died in hospital in the early hours of Monday.
Hutchinson is the second person to die as a result of a crowd crush at the gig of singer Asake, as a “large number of people” tried to force their way inside, the Met Police said.
Rebeca Ikumelo, 33, from east London died on Saturday and another woman, 21, remains in a critical condition in hospital.
In its initial statement, the Met Police said that a second woman had died following the crush. But Scotland Yard issued another press release updating the name and gender to that of Gaby Hutchinson.
The Met said: “At this time we have established that the three people who were critically injured, including Rebecca Ikumelo and Gaby Hutchinson who have tragically died, were all in the foyer of the building.”
The Met have described the investigation as “large and complex” and said the detectives are “working hard to establish what happened on Thursday night.”
Police are going through and reviewing CCTV, and phone footage as well as speaking to witnesses and conducting forensic examinations.
