Londoners should expect travel disruption this weekend (Picture: Rasid Necati Aslim/Anadolu Agency via Getty Images)
Londoners are probably getting quite used to transport strikes – as indeed is everyone across the UK.
Just one of the many disputes to come to industrial action is that between London bus drivers, part of the Unite union, and bus companies Metroline and Abellio – in a row over pay.
A number of strikes are planned in the lead up to Christmas, but is there a bus strike going ahead today and what dates in December will be affected by strike action?
Here’s all you need to know.
Is there a London bus strike today?
Members of Unite employed by Abellio are striking today (Friday December 16).
They will also be striking tomorrow ( Saturday September 17).
Both of these strikes coincide with National Rail strikes also taking place.
However, Metroline strikes planned for today have been cancelled after a pay offer was accepted.

The Abellio bus drivers walking out are based at garages in Battersea, Beddington, Hayes, Southall, Twickenham and Walworth, Unite says on its website – and it’s expected more than 950 drivers will strike.
Unite’s general secretary Sharon Graham said of the dispute: ‘Abellio is a vastly wealthy multinational company that could and should be paying its workers a fair pay increase.

‘With workers struggling to cope with rampant inflation, Abellio’s failure to even enter into meaningful pay talks is coldhearted and callous.
‘Unite is now entirely focused on defending and enhancing the jobs, pay and conditions of its members and the bus drivers at Abellio will be receiving the union’s complete support.’

The union’s regional officer Guy Langston added: ‘The strike action will cause widespread disruption across the London bus network, most notably in south and west London, but this dispute is entirely of Abellio’s own making.
‘It has had every opportunity to enter into meaningful pay negotiations, but it has chosen not to do so.’
