This week, EastEnders said goodbye to a legend as they aired the funeral of Dot Cotton (June Brown).
In order to make the episode one to remember, a number of former cast members returned to the show to pay their respects to the much loved character, including Jacqueline Jossa, who reprised her role as Lauren Branning.
The actress appeared as Lauren between 2010 and 2018, but made a brief return to film the heartbreaking funeral scenes earlier this year.
The actress couldn’t resist popping back into her old dressing room while on set at Elstree Studios, and eagerly posted a few selfies to Instagram.
‘Flying visit to Albert Square’ she captioned the image, followed by ‘RIP DOT’.
Fans were quick to comment on the post, wishing that her visit had been a more permanent one.

Being back at EastEnders ‘felt like being back at home’, Jacqueline told us recently.
She admitted that she ‘was really nervous’ when she first went back, but once she got there, ‘it didn’t feel like anything had changed’.
Lauren wasn’t the only character to make a reappearance for Dot’s funeral. She was joined by Colin Russell (Lord Michael Cashman), Barry Clark (Gary Hailes), Disa O’Brien (Jan Graveson), George ‘Lofty’ Holloway (Tom Watt) and Mary ‘The Punk’ Smith (Linda Davidson).

Also featured in the episode were three of June’s own children. Speaking about their appearance, show producer Chris Clenshaw said: ‘June’s children Nim, Sophie and Billy knew how much EastEnders meant to their mother, so much so that they requested to attend Dot’s funeral to say their goodbyes, which was absolutely lovely for all of us involved.’
