New Apex Legends leaks suggested that several big changes, regarding Arenas and certain characters, might be hitting the game soon.
Besides the usual battle royale, Apex Legends has another mode called Arenas which was only introduced in Season 9 of the game.
Players usually either love or hate playing Arenas, as the mode is quite different to the battle royale, placing two three-person squads against each other in a mini map.
However, more recently, it seems like developer Respawn has abandoned Arenas, as it has received little to no support for its matchmaking system or changes to the meta.
This all might be for good reason, as according to a couple of insiders, including YouTuber and esports manager ThordanSmash, the Arenas mode is set to be discontinued.
At first there was a rumour that this could happen as soon as season 16, but ThordanSmash has been unable to confirm the actual timeframe.
The YouTuber also hinted that another mode named Control might take Arenas’ spot in the rotation, due to the latter continuously experiencing stability issues.
The issue from what I understand is they want control to take its place but the game mode is having issues being stable.

Control is a limited time mode that first appeared in season 12 of Apex Legends and the main goal is to hold and capture certain control zones indicated on the map – similar to Overwatch 2’s Control mode.
In his video, ThordanSmash said that even the most dedicated Arenas players have given up playing the mode, with Ranked Arenas suffering a big drop in numbers.
Not long ago, the YouTuber also revealed that another big change is coming to the game, to shake up the meta.
He said that the new supply bins discovered by content creator KralRindo will only be available for assault characters.

The bins will contain more ammo and weapon attachments specifically for offensive legends, such as Wraith, Ash, Revenant, and Mad Maggie.
This leak corroborates earlier info that support legends will be able to access new ‘support bins,’ similar to how Lifeline unlocks the hidden department.
ThordanSmash was also the one who said that a potential new class called Skirmisher might be added to the game, allowing a number of characters to see what’s inside Care Packages, though this could simply be another limited time mode.
For now, the priority for most players in the game is to complete the Wintertide challenges in hopes of landing Wraith’s Prestige-tier skin, and several other ‘recycled’ cosmetics that come with the special event.
