The storm blew across the Rocky Mountains on Monday as it blanketed much of the West Coast with ice and snow, including parts of drought-stricken California.
Heavy snowfall in the Sierra Nevada brought about 3-4 feet of snow in and around the area of Lake Tahoe.
The California Department of Transit also closed down about 70 miles of Interstate-80 between the towns of Truckee and Kingvale due to road conditions and near-zero visibility.

Elsewhere in the country, meteorologists warned of an increased risk of tornadoes developing from the storm in an area centered around Natchitoches, Louisiana.
The NWS is warning people in this area, which includes parts of Texas, Arkansas, and Oklahoma, to prepare for severe wind and hail on Tuesday and Wednesday.
