Lydia Bright is worried the cost of living crisis could ‘put off families wanting to foster’ children in care.
The 31-yea-rold reality star insisted she wouldn’t be who she is today if she hadn’t grown up as part of a foster family, with her mother Debbie spending the last 30 years fostering over 200 children.
The former TOWIE star voiced her concerns that families may avoid doing the same because they’re at ‘breaking point’.
‘I spent my childhood as part of a foster family, and it made me the person I am today. Over the past 30 years, my parents have fostered over 200 kids,’ she told MailOnline.
‘I do worry that the crisis may put off families wanting to foster, but there is support from local authorities and organisations. Vital lifeline support from organisations such as Action for Children is needed now, more than ever to keep families afloat.’
She highlighted the work done by the charity as its staff look to provide families with ‘essentials’.

She added: ‘I know from visiting their services and speaking to frontline charity staff on the ground that the cost of living is hurting too many families – with many now at breaking point.’
The single mum, who has two-year-old daughter Loretta with ex Lee Cronin, revealed she’ll be at her parents’ home for Christmas and she’ll reunite with her siblings and other family members.
She said: ‘I always look forward to Christmas Day with the family, we all gather at my mum’s house. My parents have always fostered children, so all my siblings, uncles, aunties, cousins and Nan usually turn up.’
Given her love for her daughter, Lydia ‘cannot begin to imagine’ how hard some parents are finding the cost of living crisis as they struggle to ‘afford the basics like food and warm clothes for their children’.
Meanwhile, Lydia also revealed she isn’t ruling out the idea of becoming a foster parent in the future.
She explained: ‘At the minute, no, I’m really busy and juggling everything and you know it’s a complete career change so it’s something I may consider in the future.’
