Kate Kane has sent a warm message to husband Harry Kane after England’s crushing defeat
Harry Kane has the full support of his wife Kate Kane, who has defended the footballer after he controversially missed a penalty in England’s last Qatar World Cup match.
The Three Lions suffered a crushing 2-1 defeat to France during a tense match on Saturday, which saw Kane, 29, miss a penalty that would have equalised the score and taken the game into extra time.
However, England struggled to best France and ended up missing a spot in the semi-final.
Kane’s wife Kate, who he married in 2019, shared a photo of the Tottenham footballer being consoled by England manager Gareth Southgate after the match and wrote in her Instagram stories: ‘Always proud,’ alongside a heart emoji.
She added alongside a group photo of the squad: ‘What a team, our time will come.’
Kate also reposted a message from former England captain David Beckham, who wrote supportively: ‘Our boys will continue to grow.. It’s always the worst feeling waking up after being knocked out of a tournament but our players , Gareth the staff and all our fans can be proud of this team…

‘It takes a true leader to step up in these moments and that’s what our captain did , the next time it will be a different ending we walk away with our heads held high @england.’
It comes after Kane, who ballooned the ball over the bar, said he takes the blame for England’s exit as team captain.
‘Absolutely gutted,’ he said on Instagram.

‘We’ve given it everything and it’s come down to a small detail which I take responsibility for.
‘There’s no hiding from it, it hurts and it’ll take some time to get over it but that’s part of sport.
‘Now it’s about using the experience to be mentally and physically stronger for the next challenge. Thanks for all the support throughout the tournament – it means a lot.’
Kate was among the WAGs who flew over to Qatar to support the boys, with Jack Grealish’s girlfriend Sasha Attwood, goalie Jordan Pickford’s wife Megan Pickford, Harry Maguire’s wife Fern Maguire and Bukayo Saka’s girlfriend Tolami Benson among those spotted watching England from the VIP stands during the tournament.
