Joss Stone has recalled the chaotic scenes in the labour room as doctors raced against time to deliver her baby boy.
The Right To Be Wrong singer welcomed her second child, son Shackleton, with partner Cody DaLuz, 32, in October; they were already parents to one-year-old daughter Violet.
However, Joss’ birth story appears to have been more dramatic than her first delivery with Violet, as her uterus split during the agonising 32-hour labour.
Recalling the panic as she was giving birth, the musician, 35, said: ‘My baby’s heartbeat started dropping and I had this intense pain. I heard his little heartbeat go down and down.
‘I said, “Something’s happened to my baby!” and the nurse grabbed the phone to call the obstetric emergency team.’
She continued to The Sun On Sunday: ‘What I didn’t realise at the time is that my uterus had split open and my baby’s head was stuck in my abdomen.

‘You only know it’s happened because the baby’s heart rate plummets, and at that point, the doctors only have around 14 minutes to get your baby out alive.’
Joss recalled how the labour room suddenly filled with doctors and nurses preparing her for the operating room, with one even fist-bumping the singer and telling her: ‘We got this.’ However, the singer was able to ‘feel everything’ as they began the surgery so administered general anaesthetic.

It wasn’t until three days later that Joss and her newborn were discharged from hospital. Now two months later, Joss is ‘still recovering’ from the procedure and has to be careful when picking up her 21-month-old daughter Violet.
Despite the experience, the singer added she hopes to welcome ‘loads’ more kids in future.
It comes after Joss recently told Metro.co.uk’s Guilty Pleasures that she suffered ‘intrusive thoughts’ of slavering wolves after her imagination ran wild following the birth of Violet in January 2021.
‘I was elated, super-happy. So happy I was annoying, which is a common thread for me,’ she explained.
‘But every now and then I had intrusive thoughts of something happening to my little girl, like wolves running through the front door and eating her.
‘I thought, “I can’t live like this, this is horrible”. I said to my mum, “I keep having these horrific thoughts”. And she goes, “It will go away. It’s just a mad time – you’ve got the hormones and you’re in love – and concerned”. Apparently, it happens to a lot of women.’
