Are the best laid plans up in smoke? (Picture: ITV)
It’s not exactly been a happy year for Fiz Stape (Jennie McAlpine) in Coronation Street.
Yes, she reunited with Tyrone (Alan Halsall) after splitting up with Phill (Jamie Kenna) on their wedding day, but 2022 has been full of drama for our Fiz.
Most recently, the ghost of John Stape returned to haunt her as she discovered in the Weatherfield Gazette that a book was being written all about her ex-husband.
Fiz and Tyrone attempted to stop the book from being published, but they didn’t have enough cash to fund a legal case. It was put out into the public domain; gossip began to spread – and then Hope (Isabella Flanagan) got involved.
Hope took advantage of the book by sharing it around her school. She did this to try and make friends but when she overheard her classmates being nasty, she really embraced her murdering father by pulling out a hammer from her bag and re-enacting Charlotte Hoyle’s death.

So yes, poor Fiz has faced it all this year – she really isn’t expecting the festive period to be any different.
But Tyrone? He is.
Determined to marry Fiz on Christmas Day, Tyrone is very busy in the lead up.
He shares a secret smile with Hope and Ruby (Macy Alabi), who are both in on the secret and more than happy to attend another wedding…probably.

While Fiz frets over Christmas Day, Ty sits down with Maria (Samia Longchambon) and Beth (Lisa George) and goes over the wedding plans.
However, when he’s forced to cancel a trip to the cinema to compensate for Hope and Ruby’s dress fittings, Fiz is disappointed.
As an excited Ty predicts it’s going to be the best Christmas ever, Fiz laments to Maria that she suspects it will be their worst.
But who will be correct?
Can Tyrone save the day?
