Afida Turner, the wife of the late Ronnie Turner, has suggested that her husband died from cancer after suffering for three weeks before his death.
This week, it was announced that Ronnie, the son of singer Tina Turner, had died at the age of 62, with it being reported that he was involved in a medical emergency in Los Angeles.
Tina, 83, paid tribute to her son – who she shared with her ex-husband Ike Turner – in a post on Instagram, writing: ‘Ronnie, you left the world far too early. In sorrow I close my eyes and think of you, my beloved son.’
French media personality Afida, who married Ronnie in 2007, also expressed her sadness on the social media platform, sharing a series of throwback pictures while describing her late husband as ‘a terrific musician and bass player’ with an ‘amazing soul’ and a ‘heart of [a] giant’.
Dubbing Ronnie a ‘true angel’ and a ‘highly spiritual one of a kind’, the 45-year-old told her followers how devastated she was by his death.
‘Very very very bad Ronnie got sick in 3 weeks f**k cancer,’ she added.
It’s been reported that Ronnie was diagnosed with cancer in recent years, and it’s unclear whether his death was related to his previous diagnosis.
Tina gave birth to Ronnie in 1960, two years before she married Ike, who died in 2007 at the age of 76.
The Proud Mary musician’s first son, Craig Raymond, was born in 1958 through her relationship with Raymond Hill.

Craig died in 2018 after taking his own life at the age of 59.
When Tina married Ike, she adopted her husband’s two sons from his previous marriage, Ike Jr and Michael.
The couple were divorced in 1978, and she has been married to Erwin Bach since 2013.
In 1993, Ronnie appeared with his mother in the biopic What’s Love Got To Do With It, which detailed her life story and star-making career.
Following Ronnie’s death, fans rushed to console Tina, with one writing on social media: ‘Angels with you, dearest Tina. Your son will always be with you.’
‘Sending you a huge virtual hug. I cannot even imagine that type of pain,’ another said.
