A dog breeder has denied her pet mauled a woman – and has instead told a court that another animal is to blame.
Margaret Peacock, who has won awards at Crufts, is currently on trial at Salisbury Crown Court.
The 69-year-old is accused of being in charge of a dog called Mako which was dangerously out of control before causing injury to Natasha Turner.
Sian Beaven, prosecuting, told the court that Ms Turner had visited the home of Peacock in Farnborough, Hampshire, on February 1 2021.
She had planned to do some DIY and to visit her own dog, Bobo, who was staying there when the attack happened.
Giving evidence, Peacock said Ms Turner was already injured when she arrived at the door after she had been attacked by an unknown dog.
The defendant said: ‘She was absolutely hysterical, I shuttled her into the kitchen as quickly as I could, she was frightened standing on the doorstep.
‘She kept saying “It bit me, it bit me”. It was her leg, I pulled her trouser leg up to see what was wrong with her.

‘It was a very big bite or a lot of multiple bites but they were deep, it was a dog bite.’
Peacock told the court she had to shut up her dogs as they were ‘over-excited’ by the ordeal.
She said: ‘They were all around her because she was bleeding and it was all different for them, they were over-excited. I put my dogs in the bedroom.’
The prosecution claims Peacock was also bitten by Mako in the attack, but the 69-year-old argues she simply received a small bite from Ms Turner’s dog.
She said: ‘I collected Bobo, put him outside the back door, I pushed him outside with my knee and he bit me.’
The court was played three 999 calls made after the incident during which Peacock said Ms Turner had been attacked ‘in the street’.
The dog breeder added: ‘It wasn’t in my house,’ and added the injuries were ‘extremely severe’.
Peacock denies the offence and the trial continues.
