Game of Thrones star Jack Gleeson thinks people go out of their way to be kind to him assuming that he gets a lot of backlash for playing such a despised villain.
The Irish actor, 30, played King Joffrey from the first to fourth season of the show, before he was eventually killed off after drinking a chalice of poisoned wine at his own wedding.
Throughout his time on the show, Joffrey became known as one of the most despised characters and topped plenty of polls that debated who was the most hated person on the show.
Totally sadistic, he was known for being a spoilt, entitled brat who also got Ned Stark killed, a fact many fans of the series still don’t forgive him for.
So, with all this in mind, it would be safe to assume that in public people might have some trouble separating him from his character.
But instead, Jack says people are ‘extra nice’ to him, but he doesn’t think it’s because they are scared.

‘I feel like people are extra nice to me because they think people attack me,’ he said, according to Entertainment Weekly.
Speaking at a Game of Thrones fan convention in Los Angeles this weekend, Jack said that he’s never had a horrible experience with a fan.
‘Thankfully, I’ve never had any negative fan experiences or anything…there’s still a chance, if anybody wants to throw a punch,’ he added.

When asked why he’s never had any trouble, Jack said he thinks it’s down to a long-standing rumour.
‘A lot of people come up to me because I guess this rumour started that people were horrible to me on the street or I get attacked… whereas I’ve never had one negative experience,’ he explained.
‘I feel like people are extra nice to me because they think people attack me, so maybe I should keep the rumour going.’
During the interview, Jack also revealed that he still hasn’t tuned into the series, which ended last year.
‘I never actually watched it and that’s an honest thing,’ he said.
While it was initially because he didn’t like watching himself on screen, he eventually just decided not to catch up.
‘There was something about it where I was just like, ‘No, I’ll just leave it.’”

However, while Joffrey may have been unlucky in love, Jack got married earlier this year and didn’t have to worry about drinking any wine at the celebrations unlike his character.
In August he tied the knot with long-time girlfriend Roisin O’Neill in an intimate ceremony in Ireland.
