A copyright strike caused Hasanabi’s Twitch channel to get suspended while watching Kanye West’s interview on Censored.TV.
Being one of the most well-known political commentators on Twitch, Hasanabi often reacts to viral videos about current affairs and trends.
During a recent stream, he pressed play on the controversial interview Kanye West gave to far-right commentator Gavin McInnes on the Censored.TV online video platform. McInnes is also the founder of the Proud Boys, a neo-fascist and white supremacist movement.
Clips of the rapper making antisemitic comments and praising Adolf Hitler immediately circulated the internet, after the interview was published, and it seems like Hasanabi wanted to see how things escalated.
The streamer has previously stated that he’d invite the rapper to his podcast ‘in a heartbeat’ if only to hold him accountable for his actions and statements.
Only halfway through his stream, many viewers, as well as Hasanabi, got a notification that his channel had been suspended.
After trying to refresh the page, the streamer’s fans got met with a message that read: ‘Content from this channel has been removed at the request of the copyright holder’.
This generally means that the stream has been flagged due to copyright issues, though it wasn’t clear what the strike was about initially.
Shortly after his broadcast was taken down, Hasanabi confirmed the ban through a tweet, uploading a photo of his banned channel.

Viewers immediately started speculating that the copyright strike came as a result of Hasanabi watching West’s interview on Censored.TV… and it turned out they were right.
As soon as the streamer received an explanation from Twitch, he posted the whole email on Twitter, revealing he’s been banned for 48 hours – meaning he’ll be able to stream again on December 8.
The email clearly stated that the copyright strike was due to Censored.TV’s video being shown during Hasanabi’s broadcast.
The report also seems to have been made by the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of Censored.TV, Ray Aguilar, according to the email.

Another Twitter user pointed out that Censored.TV states that it will try to take down videos that repost its content on YouTube ‘or anywhere else’ – after others speculated that it could be an impersonator that reported Hasanabi.
I am not supporting Censored TV, but it says that they will do this at the bottom of their website. (Unless it is something that they added after they DMCA’d U). pic.twitter.com/OuJFEpyyVh

Killstream host Ethan Ralph also seemed to confirm that it was his team who brought Hasanabi’s stream to Censored.TV’s attention, laughing at the streamer getting banned.
A few minutes later Hasanabi commented on the ban again, calling the claim against his channel ‘pathetic’ and implying that it happened due to him ‘covering and criticising their silly ideas.’
