Will Smith was joined by his family on Wednesday night as he made his first red carpet appearance since the 2022 Oscars.
The King Richard Oscar-winner attended the Emancipation premiere in Los Angeles, California as he celebrated the release of his new film almost nine months after he stunned the world by slapping Chris Rock at the Academy Awards following a joke about his wife Jada Pinkett Smith.
The 54-year-old star was supported by Jada and their children Jaden and Willow, as well as his son Trey from his relationship with ex Sheree Zampino.
The whole family posed for photos at the event, with Will smiling in a maroon three-piece suit and pale pink dress shirt.
His wife stunned in a billowing white ball gown with a high neck and dramatic ruffled train, with the couple posing arm in arm and Will at one point planting a tender kiss on Jada’s head.
Singer Willow, 22, looked edgy in a black waistcoat and trousers with embellished silver cut-out detailing around her hips and on-trend bleached eyebrows, while 24-year-old brother Jaden opted for a baggy black and white graphic print suit.

Meanwhile Trey, 30, matched his dad in shades of pink and maroon.
The family affair was completed by Jada’s mum Adrienne Banfield-Norris, with whom she co-hosts their popular Facebook series Red Table Talk with Willow.
In Emancipation, directed by Antoine Fuqua, Will stars as enslaved man Peter who escapes from a Louisiana plantation and joins the Union Army during the Civil War.

Speaking to Entertainment Tonight at the premiere, he explained: ‘Peter has been in my heart in a beautiful way.
‘The recognition of the relationship between suffering and salvation, the realisation that nobody gets out of bearing their cross.
‘It’s just been a really beautiful, beautiful transformation.’
Meanwhile, the Men in Black actor recently opened up about what he deemed the ‘horrific night’ back in March when he slapped comedian Chris at the Oscars.

After publicly apologising for his behaviour, as well as resigning his membership of awards body the Academy, Will revealed that he was ‘going through something’ at the time.
‘That was a horrific night, as you can imagine. You know, there’s many nuances and complexities to it. But at the end of the day, I just – I lost it, you know?’ he told host Trevor Noah on The Daily Show.

The star said that ‘you just never know what somebody’s going through’.
‘It’s like – there’s all these things, and they’re strangers, and you just don’t know what is going on with people. And I was going through something that night. Not that that justifies my behaviour at all.’
Emancipation premieres on Apple TV+ on December 9.
