Cristiano Ronaldo agrees £173m-per-year contract with Saudi Arabia’s Al Nassr
Footballer Cristiano Ronaldo has reportedly agreed a £172.9 million a year contract with Al Nassr in Saudi Arabia.
The deal would be record-breaking.
Ronaldo, 37, had recently ended his Manchester United contract following a difficult spell at the club where he first started out in football. Things between the club and Ronaldo hit rock bottom when the footballer sat down with Piers Morgan, in an explosive interview.
It is now said he has signed a two-and-a-half-year deal with Al Nassr, for the record-breaking sum of £172.9 million per year. According to Spanish newspaper outlet Marca, the deal will see Ronaldo play until the age of 40.
Sources close to Ronaldo insist no deal has been signed just yet and Ronaldo remains focused on the World Cup. But reports in Spain today claim the ‘dizzying figures’ have been agreed.
He had been pushing to leave Manchester United back in the summer, saying he wanted to play Champions League football.
There had been speculation he’d return to a European league, or be signed by another Premier League club – with Chelsea and Man City the rumoured top two.
If he does head to the middle east, he’ll be playing for one of the most successful clubs in Saudi Arabia.
Al-Nassr won the country’s top flight nine times, with their recent win being in 2019.
