A recent Ubisoft livestream has announced a free Far Cry 6 update, a 67% discount on the full game, and first details of its next DLC.
Back when Ubisoft dropped a Game Of The Year Edition for Far Cry 6, store listings mentioned a new DLC expansion titled Lost Between Worlds.
At the time, Ubisoft gave no hints as to what it was, or a release window, but details regarding both were shared via a livestream on Tuesday evening (no, we didn’t know it was happening either).
As the title implies, Lost Between Worlds looks to be a far more fantastical experience than the main game as it involves an alien spaceship, distorted realities, and magical sci-fi looking guns.
The story sees Dani, the protagonist from the original, teaming up with some kind of artificial intelligence called Fai to rebuild the latter’s ship, after the former destroys it.
To do this, Dani must explore rifts containing bizarre, otherworldly versions of the main game’s setting of Yara. It’s all very Doctor Strange, with constantly shifting environments and slightly abstract imagery.
These rifts are also filled with crystal monsters that, once defeated, reward you with shards that can be used to earn stronger gear.
‘Lost Between Worlds is a rich, action-packed gauntlet with deadly crystal enemies, multiple player paths, all-new lore, and a wide variety of unique gameplay challenges,’ reads the trailer description on YouTube.
The whole thing is a far cry (sorry) from the grounded and brutal plotline of the main game, but Far Cry 6 gave up realism a long time ago when it crossed over with Stranger Things.
Anyone eager for an excuse to return to Far Cry 6 won’t need to wait much longer, as the DLC is slated for a December 6 release, which is less than a week away.
In the meantime, Ubisoft has already added a free update to the game which includes a New Game+ mode and a completionist aid feature that keeps track of any secrets you find as you explore Yara (something that really should’ve been in the game from the get-go).
Ubisoft is also offering a free trial for Far Cry 6 across all platforms, that lets you play the early parts of the game. Progression is carried over if you decide to purchase the full game, which is currently discounted and going for less than £20.

As for the Lost Between Worlds DLC, it’ll cost £17.99 as a standalone purchase or you can get it as part of the upgrade pass which includes the season pass containing the three DLC expansions that star previous Far Cry villains.
The upgrade pass normally costs £49.99, but it’s discounted too and is instead £24.99 at the moment.
Far Cry 6 is available for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC.
