An elderly man died after a cow escaped from a livestock market and trampled him.
The unnamed pensioner was walking in the countryside village of in Whitland, Carmarthenshire, when the cow attacked him on November 19.
He was airlifted to Cardiff’s University Hospital of Wales but he died from his injuries a week later.
The cow was ‘humanely’ killed by police, with the owner’s consent, after it continued to cause chaos.
Trains even had to be brought to a halt after the cow walked onto the tracks.
Dyfed Powys Police said: ‘Eventually, it made its way to a field, where every effort was made to safely contain it in consultation with the owner.
‘Unfortunately all attempts failed and, due to the danger posed by the animal, it was humanely dispatched.’
A 71-year-old pensioner in a completely different part of the world, Michael Walsh, was trampled to death by an elephant last month.
He was game reserve in Zimbabwe when a ‘tuskless’ female elephant charged at him and his 42-year-old son.
They were only 40 metres away from their car but Mr Walsh couldn’t outrun the huge animal.
