Gabby sparks Bernice’s fears when she speculates dementia (Picture: ITV)
When Bernice (Samantha Giles) starts acting strangely in upcoming Emmerdale episodes, she makes the mistake of listening to Gabby (Rosie Bentham), who fears that she may have dementia.
How else to explain the mood swings that cause Bernice to squirt Bear (Joshua Richards) with a hose at the salon after he makes a clumsy joke at her expense?
Fortunately for Bear the water misses him – but unfortunately for Bernice and Mandy (Lisa Riley) it soaks someone Mandy was hoping would bring a lot of business to the salon.
An emotional Bernice storms out after this, later opening up to Bob (Tony Audenshaw) about how she’s been feeling.
He sensibly suggests that it might be a good idea to see a doctor and he’s concerned when she starts to cry.

While Gabby thinks that all the signs point to Bernice having dementia, Laurel (Charlotte Bellamy) has a more plausible explanation.
Could it be the menopause? Bernice is certainly not ready to accept she may be menopausal and rejects the idea outright.
When Liam (Jonny McPherson), in his professional capacity as her GP, has the audacity to suggest that he thinks the menopause is the most likely explanation for Bernice’s symptoms she’s furious and slams out of the surgery.
Will she come to terms with the diagnosis? Or is there really something more sinister going on?
