A Brit who placed a £5 bet on England beating Iran 6-2 is laughing his way to the bank after winning £2,500.
Connor Needs was staring down a loss with the scoreline at 6-1 when Iran were controversially awarded a penalty.
The 22-year-old’s unlikely punt had the whole pub in Essex on tenterhooks as striker Mehdi Taremi stepped up and slotted a consolation goal past Jordan Pickford.
Hilarious footage shows Connor in complete shock before his friends start jumping on top of him in a massive dogpile on the floor.
The support worker was then lifted in the air by his mates like he’d just won the World Cup.
‘Oh my God, oh my God, what is going on?’ his friends could be heard saying.

The odds for the bet were about 200/1.
Punters joked Connor could now afford to heat his home for a month.
Another also pointed out: ‘This is the only time you would celebrate England conceding a goal.’

During the match, England raced into a 3-0 first half lead thanks to goals from Jude Bellingham, Bukayo Saka and Raheem Sterling.
Saka added a fourth in the second half before Iran pulled one back through Mehdi Taremi.
Marcus Rashford and Jack Grealish made it a rout with two more goals, before Taremi sinked a second from the penalty spot, much to Connor’s delight.
