Coronation Street stars have expressed their joy over the news Millie Gibson has joined the cast of Doctor Who to play the next companion.
Millie, best known for her role as Kelly Neelan, was confirmed to be playing Ruby Sunday – the new face who will travel in the TARDIS with the Doctor, who will soon be portrayed by Sex Education’s Ncuti Gatwa.
Before Millie and Ncuti’s on-screen debut together, David Tennant will reprise the Doctor Who role alongside old friend Donna Noble, played by Catherine Tate.
Speaking as she was announced to be taking over the coveted role, Millie said: ‘Whilst still being in total disbelief, I am beyond honoured to be cast as the Doctor’s companion.
‘It is a gift of a role, and a dream come true, and I will do everything to try and fill the boots the fellow companions have travelled in before me. And what better way to do that than being by the fabulous Ncuti Gatwa’s side, I just can’t wait to get started.’
As Millie enters the world of Doctor Who, her former Coronation Street co-stars have been reacting to the huge news.
