Peter Capaldi led the stars at the Scottish Baftas with the Doctor Who star honoured with the Outstanding Contribution to Film & Television.
The award is one of Bafta’s highest accolades and is presented to people who have made significant contributions in either major feature films or network television programmes.
Downton Abbey star Phyllis Logan presented the award.
‘It’s been so amazing to work with so many heroes, Terence Davies, James Gunn, James Gandolfini, but it’s all about people and the people you love and the people who are around you,’ Peter, 64, said, before worrying he was ‘going on too long’.
During his speech, the actor also paid tribute to Ncuti Gatwa, who was cast as the 15th Doctor this year, and who will be taking over in the role at the end of next year, after David Tennant’s stint in the 60th anniversary specials.
‘Ncuti knows this already, because I can see it in his heart and see it in him, but he’s about to discover how beautiful and wonderful and cosmic the human race can really be,’ he said.

Also joining Peter at the awards was Ncuti, who looked as stylish as ever in a blue suit.
Succession star Brian Cox and Outlander’s Sam Heughan were also among the stars to rock the red carpet.
Jack Lowden won the best male actor in film award for his role in Benediction, a 2021 biographical drama film about 20th Century war poet Siegfried Sassoon. He was nominated alongside co-star Peter Capaldi.
The best female actor in film award went to Izuka Hoyle for her performance in Boiling Point.
She said: ‘To be recognised by Bafta is mental, but to be recognised by Scottish Bafta; I can’t even put into words what that means to me.
‘I am so proud to be Scottish, and to be a Scottish brown woman as well. And to be able to represent this small demographic within film, I love this job so much.’
