Craig David has spilled the beans about Prince George ‘going crazy’ for his sequinned outfit at the Platinum Party at the Palace this year.
The concert, held in June 2022, featured Ed Sheeran, Sir Rod Stewart, and Diana Ross, and was part of a long weekend of celebrations marking the Queen’s 70-year reign.
Craig, 41, performed number one hit Fill Me In and other popular songs such as Re-Rewind, Ain’t Giving Up, and My Heart’s Been Waiting for You at the star-studded event.
And it turns out he and his bright blue sequin-covered tracksuit had quite the impact on one of the youngest members of the Royal Family, as he revealed on The Jonathan Ross Show he was invited with his mum to Buckingham Palace following the performance.
He said: ‘[My mum] was gripping my hand and I could tell what she was going to say, she said, “We’re in the Queen’s house”.’
He continued: ‘Prince William walks over, he comes over, says, “My son George was going crazy for the blue sequined outfit that you were wearing”.

Craig then told Jonathan that he thanked the Prince for his compliment before taking a moment to reflect on the occasion.
‘My mum was there. That moment for me, as a son, introducing my mother to William, was probably the most incredible moment for me.’
Craig said William was ‘super down-to-earth’ and that the Prince and his younger brother Harry, the Duke of Sussex, were part of a new chapter for the monarchy.
‘Seeing him and seeing Harry and seeing the next generation coming through, I feel it’s giving a different tone to the royal family.’

Speaking about King Charles, Craig said that what he expected and what he experienced were two very different things.
‘He is another one. He’s a stand-up guy. Whenever I met him, it’s not the pretence of what could come with being a royal.’
Craig continued: ‘He’s very down-to-earth and he is very much an advocate for, “How can we help the young children?”‘

Earlier this month, Craig spoke to Metro.co.uk and revealed that he’s planning to write a ‘part-memoir, part-self-help book’ in the near future.
‘I wanted to write a book that actually could land and hopefully help people, to almost demystify and remove the role that we’re playing.’
