Pet toys that look like politicians are becoming somewhat of a trend at the moment.
One man recently spent £3,500 on Liz Truss dog toys in the hope of selling them, only for her to quit after 44 days in office.
And now, pet stores across the UK are selling them in the form of Scotland’s first minister Nicola Sturgeon.
London-based firm Pet Hates Toys is behind the idea – which features Sturgeon in her signature red suit and steely expression.
Cat scratch toys stuffed with catnip and squeaky dog toys are some of their best sellers.
Peter Hanson, owner of The Cat Gallery in York, said he’s just sold out of the Sturgeon toys.
He told The Times: ‘She’s great because we get a lot of Scottish visitors coming down to York for long weekends and they certainly have a good laugh at Nicola and she certainly divides opinion I think.
‘It’s obviously meant to be something for your cat to sort of maul and chew and dribble on and generally abuse, but some people buy them to put on their desks as a model of their hero, so it works both ways.’

An online product description by the company reads: ‘Ye dinnae wanna get on the wrong side of this “nippy sweetie”.
‘Feminist icon, pro-European and no friend of Boris. Our Nicola looks glamorous as ever in her trademark red suit and steely expression that has those in Westminster quivering.’
Vanessa Ainsworth founded Pet Hates Toys and said Sturgeon has outsold the likes of the Michael Gove post-Brexit.
But she said Boris Johnson and Donald Trump continue to be the most popular toys.
‘Nicola is very popular,’ she said. ‘She has always been quite popular. She’s quite a character and I think any politician that’s quite charismatic generally tends to sell quite well. She’s a good seller.
‘I did have an inkling about Liz Truss that she wasn’t going to last and I was proved right. Rishi would certainly be on the top of the list.’
While she no longer sells Putin toys since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, she is considering an order of Suella Braverman toys.
