Donald Trump in announcing his third presidential bid admitted that he tells his wife Melania to ‘just leave me alone’ when he comes home looking ‘angry and upset’.
The former president provided another glimpse into his relationship with his wife near the end of his more than one-hour speech launching his 2024 presidential campaign.
Donald said it ‘hasn’t been a joyride for our great first lady’ and asked Melania to stand up during his announcement speech at Mar-a-Lago on Tuesday night.
‘I go home and she says – they do love her – and she says, “You look angry and upset,” and I tell her, “Just leave me alone, I got this,”‘ said Donald.

‘Hasn’t been easy, but she’s been a great first lady and people love her.’
Melania’s reaction was not visible from a live stream of the event. She walked into the room holding hands with her husband and sat at the front left of the packed room at Mar-a-Lago. At the end of Donald’s speech, Melania joined him on stage, smiled and waved as they held hands.
Donald officially launched his 2024 campaign days after reportedly blaming Melania for apparently advising him to support Republican Dr Mehmet Oz for the Senate. Oz lost the high-profile race in Pennsylvania to Democrat John Fetterman.
Melania on Tuesday night appeared enthusiastic about her husband’s announcement. She sat next to their son Barron Trump, and the two of them followed Donald as he greeted guests at Mar-a-Lago after his announcement.
