Arsenal forward Gabriel Jesus has heaped praise on his Brazil teammate and Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker.
Both Jesus and Alisson are currently preparing for the World Cup, where they are hoping to end their country’s 20-year wait for the biggest prize in football.
Brazil are considered one of, if not the favourite to go all the way in Qatar, with Tite’s squad packed with world-class players in all positions, so much so that Jesus’ place in the team was not guaranteed, while Alisson faces fierce competition from Manchester City’s Ederson for a place in the starting XI.
Jesus knows all about Ederson’s credentials having been teammates with the keeper from 2017 to 2022, but when discussing the quality of his international comrades with Sky Sports, the 25-year-old instead spoke highly of the Liverpool shot-stopper.
‘I have played against Alisson in Brazil and he is so difficult,’ Jesus said.
‘Two times I went against him one-v-one and he defended my shots. They were good shots and he defended them because Alisson is so big.
‘Brazil have really good keepers, even with Weverton in Palmeiras, he is so good. We are lucky to have them.’

Jesus will be glad to be on the same side as Alisson for a change, having scored just twice against the 30-year-old in the 10 games where they have come up against each other at club level.

Fellow Arsenal forward Gabriel Martinelli also made Brazil’s squad and was equally complimentary of Alisson, adding: ‘He’s so good.
‘When I went to the national team last time, when we played against Japan and South Korea, I remember when we were in training and I came one-v-one with him and it’s so difficult, he’s so big.’
Martinelli was able to get the better of Alisson when Arsenal defeated Liverpool 3-2 earlier this season.
In Qatar, Brazil will kick-off their World Cup campaign on November 24 against Serbia, followed by clashes with Switzerland and Cameroon.
