Denise Welch is among those calling out past I’m A Celebrity… Get me Out of Here! winner Georgia ‘Toff’ Toffolo for praising ‘likeable’ Matt Hancock.
Toffolo, who won the series in 2017, had initially launched a scathing attack on the former Health Secretary when it was revealed he’d be entering the jungle.
However, within days of Hancock entering the camp alongside Boy George and Charlene White, the Made in Chelsea star seems to have changed her mind.
Taking to Twitter, she said: ‘I really stand by what I said about Matt Hancock. He should have resigned then gone on the show – you can’t do both.’
She continued: ‘However, he’s coming across so well. Brilliant TV and he’s likeable too.’ Many of her followers were less than happy with her thoughts.
It’s a self-branded ‘U-turn’, which has angered Welch, 64, in particular, who was one of the most vocal critics of Hancock during the Covid lockdown in the UK.
Known as someone who isn’t afraid to keep her thoughts to herself, Welch was actually short of words on this occasion, only responding with: ‘Wow.’
Last week, Toffolo surprised and delighted thousands when she labelled Hancock ‘disgraceful’, adding: ‘Not only did he cheat on his wife and get caught, he’s now leaving his constituents to go to Australia.’

In a huge change of mind, however, Toffolo made another appearance on This Morning to say she voted for Hancock to become camp leader.
‘I voted for him to be camp leader. I just think it’s the most insane scenario for those campmates to think, “How on earth is this universally hated man now leading camp?”‘

Hancock resigned as Health Secretary when it was revealed his own Covid lockdown restrictions while engaging in an affair.
Last week, Welch tore into Hancock when she heard the news that he would be competing in the ITV reality series.
During Loose Women, she ranted: ‘I am fuming and I am disgusted, and I cannot find any humour in this appointment at all.’

‘I was very vocal about Covid restrictions, some being incredibly unnecessary and the impact that would have on people’s livelihoods and mental health, and Matt Hancock was at the forefront of those.’
Hancock will face his sixth consecutive bushtucker trial on I’m A Celeb tonight, where it appears he’ll be locked underground in a bug-filled chamber.
Watch I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! airs on ITV and ITV Hub.
