Spencer Matthews has confirmed that he will climb Mount Everest in a new documentary in the hopes of finding his brother Michael’s final resting place.
The Made In Chelsea star’s brother, who was a seasoned climber, died descending Everest in 1999 and his body has never been found.
After it was revealed that Bear Grylls led a secret mission to find his body, which wasn’t successful, Spencer is going to make the climb himself in a documentary for Disney+.
He’s undergone months of therapy and has readied himself for what is sure to be an emotional journey.
He told The Sun: ‘It was important for me to get my head around the fact I might come face to face with my brother’s frozen body.
‘I knew it was going to be a gut-wrenching and emotional journey.’

An insider previously told The Sun of the documentary: ‘Though the Matthews family were never able to recover Michael’s body, there is a guide who believes they know his final resting place.
‘It is a hugely emotional project and will be a very upsetting journey for many reasons, but Spencer is hugely passionate about embarking on it if he can make it work.
‘For years the family has raised funds in Michael’s name and for Spencer if they can get the project off the ground, it is going to be for his family and Michael.’
Opening up about the loss of his brother, Spencer penned in his 2013 autobiography: ‘His loss was devastating for the family and over time this became worse because the circumstances surrounding Michael’s death have never been fully explained.
‘James took the news badly. With just a year and a half between them, he and Mike were the closest of friends. The loss was heartbreaking for James.’
