I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! viewers are seething over Matt Hancock saying he was looking for ‘forgiveness’ over his lockdown ‘mistakes’.
Hancock joined the likes of Mike Tindall and Charlene White on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! earlier this week, and so far we’ve seen him break out into an Ed Sheeran song, squirm under a downpour of slurry, and admit he ‘fell in love’ before resigning as health secretary in a scandal that rocked the nation.
The former health secretary stepped down from his position last year after CCTV footage of him kissing his aide, and ultimately broke social distancing guidelines.
The scandal sent shockwaves through Westminster, which prompted intense backlash and widespread calls for him to go.
On Thursday, Hancock said he ‘resigned’ because he ‘know how people felt’.
‘I know how people felt and that’s why I resigned. Because I know how people felt. So, good on you for saying that,’ he said.
And viewers were not impressed.

Tonight, Hancock told the campmates: ‘Do you know what it is actually, what I’m really looking for is a bit of forgiveness, that’s what I’m really looking for.’
‘We all make mistakes, I made a pretty big one,’ he added, before saying in the Bush Telegraph: ‘I wasn’t really expecting it, but it did get very emotional,’ after a grilling from the camp.
But, Hancock’s did not go down well with viewers.
‘If the British public forgive Matt Hancock, I’m officially done with this country,’ one person wrote.
‘I will never forgive Matt Hancock for leaving the immunosuppressed frightened and vulnerable with no defence and no protection,’ another penned.
Someone else wrote: ‘There isn’t enough sheeps vagina in the world he can eat that will stop me being so angry that Matt Hancock is on @imacelebrity. I had to stand outside my best friends funeral. I won’t forgive F**k you Matt Hancock. I’m not buying a single one of your crocodile tears.’
I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! continues at 9pm tomorrow night on ITV.
