Hilary Duff and Aaron Carter’s own management team have blasted publisher Ballast Books over the decision to release the late singer’s unfinished memoirs.
The former Lizzie McGuire star has condemned the company for what she has described as ‘unverified click-bait for profit’ following her fellow Disney alum and ex-boyfriend’s death aged 34 on November 5.
In a statement to E! News, she said: ‘It’s really sad that within a week of Aaron’s death, there’s a publisher that seems to be recklessly pushing a book out to capitalise on this tragedy without taking appropriate time or care to fact check the validity of his work.
‘To water down Aaron’s life story to what seems to be unverified click-bait for profit is disgusting.
‘In no way do I condone shedding any light on what is so obviously an uninformed, heartless, money grab.’
The tell-all book, which is titled Aaron Carter: An Incomplete Story of an Incomplete Life, has been written by Andy Symonds, who spend three years interviewing the late star.

After Hilary’s statement, Carter’s own management team has thanked her for speaking out, and also taken issue with the publisher’s plans.
They added: ‘In the few short days following our dear friend’s passing we have been trying to grieve and process while simultaneously having to deal with obscenely disrespectful and unauthorised releases.

‘This is a time for mourning and reflection not heartless money grabs and attention seeking.’
His team has requested the removal of unauthorised content, and also called for nothing else to be released ‘without approval from his family, friends, and associates’.
Carter was found dead at his California home on Sunday, and he was discovered unresponsive in a bathtub at his home in Lancaster, California, according to reports.
Hilary – who famously dated Carter in the 2000s – led tributes to her ex, and wrote in an Instagram post: ‘For Aaron – I’m deeply sorry that life was so hard for you and that you had to struggle in front of the whole world.
‘You had a charm that was absolutely effervescent… boy did my teenage self love you dearly. Sending love to your family at this time. Rest easy.’
