The run-up to the festive season wouldn’t be complete without the John Lewis Christmas advert, and the 2022 effort is another heartwarming affair offering laughs and tears in equal measure.
This year’s campaign, titled The Beginner, shines a light on care experienced children and follows the launch of the John Lewis Partnership’ Building Better Futures programme, aimed at helping young people who have experience of the care system.
The clip follows a man who is attempting to master the art of skateboarding, suffering a series of mishaps and accidents as he does.
However it’s not until the end of the clip that we discover why he is doing it, as a bid to form a connection with a young teenage girl that his family is fostering.
But just when will it be making its TV debut? Here’s what you need to know…
When is the John Lewis Christmas advert on TV?
The John Lewis Christmas advert for 2022 will get its first TV airing during Friday night’s edition of I’m A Celebrity on ITV.
Although the exact time hasn’t been specified, I’m A Celeb kicks off at 9pm, so expect to see it some time between then and the end of the show at 10.15pm, in one of the ad breaks.
However if you can’t wait that long then you’ll also be able to watch it online at 8am on Thursday morning.
This year the ad is debuting a little later, with 2021’s effort Unexpected Guest landing on screens on November 4.
What is the John Lewis advert about?
This year the advert centres on a middle-aged man attempting to master the art of skateboarding, despite suffering many mishaps and accidents along the way.
The reasons for his perserverance are not initially clear, until we learn that he and his family are fostering a teenage girl named Ellie, who arrives at their home at the end of the clip.

When we meet her we see she is clutching a skateboard – revealing the lengths her new foster father has gone to to try and connect with the youngster.
This year’s soundtrack is a cover of the Blink 182 song All The Small Things.
It is performed by American singer and actor Mike Geier, who is better known for his clown alter ego Puddles Pity Party.
