Former President Donald Trump is reportedly blaming his wife Melania for advising him to support losing Republican Senate candidate Dr Mehmet Oz.
Oz is perhaps the most high profile candidate that Trump endorsed and lost in the midterm elections.
The ex-president was angry at several people including his wife, New York Times senior political reporter Maggie Haberman reported on Wednesday.
‘Trump is indeed furious this morning, particularly about Mehmet Oz, and is blaming everyone who advised him to back Oz – including his wife, describing it as not her best decision, according to people close to him,’ tweeted Haberman, who recently published a book on Trump.
‘Worth remembering that Trump is a grown man who endorsed Oz over the objection of some of the people closest to him, and instead went beyond just endorsing and attacked Dave McCormick from the stage at a rally.’
Oz defeated McCormick, a former hedge fund CEO, in Pennsylvania’s Republican Senate primary.
However, Oz conceded to Pennsylvania’s Democratic lieutenant governor, John Fetterman, on Wednesday morning.
Haberman added that there were people urging Trump to reschedule his supposed plan to announce his 2024 campaign next week.
‘Several Rs have texted asking whether he will, but it’s risky and would be acknowledging he’s wounded by yesterday, something that some of his advisers insist is not the case,’ she tweeted.
Trump was ‘livid’ and ‘screaming at everybody’ on Wednesday after Republicans failed to pull a ‘red tsunami’ in the midterms, an unnamed adviser told CNN anchor Jim Acosta.

But Trump’s spokesperson Taylor Budowich said Haberman and Acosta’s accounts were ‘completely fake’.
‘Out of the races that have been called, President Trump has racked up over 215 wins for his endorsements,’ Budowich told the Daily Mail. ‘A truly unprecedented accomplishment and something only possible because of President Trump’s ability to pick and elect winners.’
