Britain is braced for another onslaught of heavy rain after days of floods and strong winds.
Blustery showers, thunder and gales are set to hit western areas this morning after yellow weather warnings across the country ended at midnight.
The weather will remain ‘unsettled’ today, but last night’s harsh conditions – when gusts hit 70mph in Cornwall, Devon and west Wales – will subside.
Travellers are urged to remain vigilant for disruption on the roads and transport network, which is currently at the mercy of protesters on the M25.
Met Office meteorologist Simon Partridge said: ‘It will still be windy, but it should be a little more business-as-usual windy.
‘Most of the strongest winds have come in after dark when most people are at home. There is further rain through the week so we’ll keep an eye on that.

‘Tuesday is quite a windy day – not as windy as last tonight but windy across the country with a mix of showers and sunshine, showers in the west and possibly a bit of thunder and drier and brighter in the east, but still a blustery, unsettled sort of day.’
The Environment Agency has issued nine flood warnings today across East Sussex, West Sussex, Dorset, Derbyshire, Devon and the Lake District.

Another 52 alerts are also in place where flooding is possible.
Showers and wind are expected to continue on Wednesday but ease later in the week, giving way to breezier and drier conditions.
