Sir Gavin Williamson is now accused of telling a senior civil servant to ‘slit your throat’ when he was defence secretary.
The former official told the Guardian that Sir Gavin made the remarks in a meeting in front of colleagues, and also allegedly told them to ‘jump out of the window’.
They added Sir Gavin, who was sacked by both Theresa May and Boris Johnson when they were prime minister, ‘deliberately demeaned and intimidated’ them on a regular basis.
In a statement, Sir Gavin said: ‘I strongly reject this allegation and have enjoyed good working relationships with the many brilliant officials I have worked with across government.
‘No specific allegations have ever been brought to my attention.’
However, Sir Gavin did not specifically deny using the language alleged.
Rishi Sunak is coming under pressure for bringing him back to Government after it emerged he allegedly sent abusive messages to his Tory colleague Wendy Morton.

In the texts, he complained about not being invited to the Queen’s funeral, telling the former chief whip ‘you f*** us all over’.
Rishi Sunak said the language was ‘not acceptable’, but said he would wait for a complaints investigation ‘before making any decisions about the future’.
Addressing the new allegations, a Cabinet Office spokesperson said: ‘The Cabinet Office has not received notice of any formal complaints about Gavin Williamson’s behaviour from his time at the Ministry of Defence or any other department.’
Baroness Morgan, a former cabinet minister under Mrs May, said she had ‘run-ins’ with Sir Gavin when he was chief whip, adding: ‘None of this surprises me, sadly.’
She told TalkTV: ‘Unfortunately Gavin has a reputation, it’s not a very nice one, and I really don’t know why Rishi Sunak felt he had to have him back in Government.’

Labour’s shadow home secretary Yvette Cooper suggested the new PM had done ‘grubby political deals’ with Sir Gavin and Suella Braverman.
Ms Braverman was reappointed as Home Secretary just six days after she was forced to quit over a security breach.
Ms Cooper told BBC Breakfast: ‘In both cases, this really looks like Rishi Sunak has just done grubby political deals that aren’t in the national interest.
‘It really looks like we have got more of the same. That is not good enough.’
