Meet your new Heartstopper stars! (Picture: Netflix)
We might have to wait a while to see them on screen, but there are some new additions to the Heartstopper cast.
Filming for the second season is currently underway, with the likes of Kit Connor, Joe Locke, and Yasmin Finney all returning to their roles of Nick Nelson, Charlie Spring, and Elle Argent respectively.
But, as well as some familiar faces, Netflix will be sending fans’ hearts aflutter with new characters.
Taking to Twitter today, the streaming service announced that Bel Priestly, Ash Self and Thibault De Montalembert are coming on board.
All that has been released about their roles so far are their character’s names and a small explainer on just who they are.
Naomi (played by Priestly) and Felix (Self) are ‘new friends’ of Elle, while Stephane is Nick’s father.
The post also confirmed that Chetna Pandya was returning as Coach Singh, Fisayo Akinade as Mr Ajayi, Alan Turkington as Mr Lange and Olivia Colman would be back as Sarah Nelson, which should make for some interesting scenes when she inevitably comes face to face with her ex, who lives in France.
Audiences may recognise de Montalembert for playing talent agent Mathias Barneville on four seasons of the French series Call My Agent!
He’s also in the newly released film All Quiet on the Western Front.
For more than two decades he’s also done the French dubbing for Hugh Grant’s movies, including Notting Hill, Bridget Jones’ Diary and Florence Foster Jenkins.

Meanwhile, content creator Bel Priestly might be more recognisable to younger audiences for her huge social media followings.
Bel has over one million followers on TikTok, over 40k on Youtube, and 122k on Instagram, and shares videos ranging from shopping hauls to Q&As where she shares her experience of being trans.
Posting on Instagram soon after the news of her casting was announced, Bel wrote that ‘words can’t describe how grateful I am for this opportunity’.
‘Thank you to the entire Heartstopper crew & cast for making me feel so welcomed and supported,’ she added.

‘Thanks to my friends and family who have supported me throughout this experience you know who you are. And finally to all of you! For supporting me through everything I do I am forever grateful. I love you all so so so so much. Can’t wait for you all to meet Naomi.’
Actor and comedian Ash rounds out the new cast members.
Fans of the series have welcome the news of the casting, which continues upon what the first season already built with not only sharing the stories of queer teens, but casting them in these roles.
Commenting on Netflix’s post, fans of the show mostly flooded it with comments including lots of ‘OMG’ and ‘YES’, but others said how much some of the casting decisions meant to them.
‘BEL WHAT WHAT WHAT THATS INCREDIBLE IM SO PROUD OF HER,’ one person wrote.
‘Omg as someone with a feeding tube you have no idea how happy this makes me,’ some-one else said in reference to the photo of Ash.

Another hailed Olivia the ‘queen’, and is counting down already to see the scenes between Nick and his dad.

Following its release in April, Heartstopper was quickly embraced by critics and audiences alike, and most recently its two stars Joe Locke and Kit Connor were each nominated for a National Television Award, as was the show itself.
The lead star’s careers have also reached new heights, as Joe has been cast in Marvel’s WandaVision spin-off Agatha: Coven of Chaos, while Kit will next be seen in the movie adaptation of the novel A Cuban Girl’s Guide to Tea and Tomorrow.
Season 1 of Heartstopper is streaming now on Netflix.
