Luke Evans is giving absolutely nothing away about whether or not he’s the next James Bond.
Speculation over who will take over from Daniel Craig has been rife for a hot minute, with names including Henry Cavill and Idris Elba in the mix.
Welsh actor Evans, 43, has long been tipped to take on 007 next, and has previously said he’d ‘jump’ at the chance to play the iconic role.
But, you’re not going to squeeze confirmation out of him that easily, as the star is remaining tight-lipped.
Despite her best efforts, The One Show host Alex Jones couldn’t get much from the Dracula Untold star as he appeared on the BBC show on Friday (November 4).
‘We’ve got to start with some rumours that are circulating,’ the fellow Welsh star began, before playing the famous Bond theme tune and asking Evans if it ‘means anything’ to him.

The West End performer maintained his best poker face, shaking his head and denying any connection to the track.
‘Interestingly, last week, the odds of you being Bond were slashed,’ she continued, to which Evans replied innocently: ‘Were they?’
‘But, I mean, you wouldn’t tell us anything anyway, even if you knew, would you?, she probed.
After Evans shook his head with a slight smirk, she added: ‘Let’s pretend the call’s come in, what sort of Bond are you gonna be?’
Laughing that he would be a ‘Welsh’ Bond, inevitably, Evans said: ‘Definitely Welsh. I don’t know. I’ve never really thought about it. It’s a bit like jinxing it by talking about it.’

‘They’d be big shoes to fill, wouldn’t they?’, he noted.
Refusing to admit defeat, the One Show host nudged: ‘But you’d quite like it, wouldn’t you?’
‘Meh, I’d enjoy it, at a push,’ Evans laughed, before suggesting filmmakers could ‘save a fortune’ by also getting him to sing the theme tune.
‘I mean, who knows?’, he concluded. ‘It is famously the best kept secret in the movie world, right?’
‘So, no one knows,’ he admitted, although we’re not so convinced he’s as clueless as he makes out…
The Rent star has been vocal about his love for all things Bond, recently offering his opinion on the franchise, praising it for moving with the times.

On how the iconic film series has moved away from the secret agent’s womanising ways, where Bond would hook-up with multiple women per movie, he said: ‘We’re not in the Roger Moore [era] where he sleeps with five women per film, that’s not really what he’s about anymore.’
Evans added that he felt audiences were now ‘more interested in the spectacle, the story’.
He previously told The Guardian: ‘I don’t know what the current temperature is with audiences, whether they care enough to worry about what James Bond does in the bedroom,’ as he confirmed his interest in taking on the role of the iconic and suave MI6 operative.

Also asked whether that comment referred to Bond’s sexuality, or that of the actor playing him, Evans – who is gay – confirmed to The Independent: ‘Both, I suppose.’
Only time will tell who’s set to take on the character next…
The One Show airs at 7pm, weekdays on BBC One.
